Rob was playing with his cactus today. Don't worry, he got it to stand up straight :)

June 29, 2011: Urgent Care

Rob's fever got up to 103.6 degrees last night. He was bundled up in clothes and blankets and still felt freezing. He even started to hallucinate a little :) So today we went to urgent care. Rob has a mild case of pneumonia. He's on antibiotics and will be better soon.

June 28, 2011

Our hops are amazing! They are growing all the way up to the second story of our house.
Thee flowers are pretty. We don't know what they are, but the leaves are fuzzy.

Neighbor's kitty. She realy wants to meet Kia, but Kia just wants to pick a fight.

June 27, 2011: Rob has a fever :(

102 degrees.

June 26, 2011

Our strawberries are ripening :)

This vine is so pretty, but it is hidden behind a tree so we hardly ever see it.

Kitty was rolling around in the grass. She really likes the firepit poker.

She also enjoys the front porch :)

June 25, 2011

We were walking downtown when we saw a hummingibrd. Can you see him? He's heading for the foxglove. I love hummingbirds!!

When we got to the Farmer's Market, we enjoyed yummy pizzas rom Rolling Stone Pizza Co. Rob couldn't even wait for me to take a picture before he dug in.

We hae lots of pretty flowers blooming in the garden.

Then we hung some drywall at the top of the tub, the difficult wall. A special thanks goes out to Lisa's measurements and Rob's back for repeatedly lifting the drywall sheet over the toilet.

And the most exciting thing!! We figured out what kind of brd is nesting in our tree!! It's a green heron.

June 24, 2011: Our Completed Wall

I kept forgetting to post this picture. The wall that we built. It just needs some mud.

June 23, 2011: Plumbing

We hired a plumber to help with the faucet replacement and repair in our bathroom, and boy am I glad we did!! He had to cut out some pipe...

...and replace it with all this stuff.

Rob and I would never have figured this out by ourelves.

June 22, 2011

Today was a Craigslist day. We bought this neat antique rocking chair. Currently it is sitting in Rob's art room, which is probably where it will stay. By the way, that's Chad Dick, Rob's Cabbage Patch Kid, taking it for a spin.

June 21, 2011: Rob and Lisa Build a Wall

Today we built a wall at the base of our tub, which means we got to play with some 8 foot studs.

We first had to build a frame for the wall. I did all the measuring, and Rob pounded the studs in place.

Here is the finished frame.

Then we covered the frame with drywall. Rob completed the end while I was teaching my night class. I will post a picture soon.

We are now left with this weird-sized little cubby. The current plan is to make some shelves for this area. I'm not really sure what else would fit.

June 20, 2011: Walking to Yoga Class

Our yoga class is downtown for the summer, so we get to walk there. We brought the camera along and took some pictures in downtown Albany.

June 19, 2011

We made a beautiful bouquet from our garden with a lupine, a foxglove and some pink flowers.

Somewhere in this tree, there is a nest with baby birds in it. We tried to take a picture, but now we can't find the little bird heads :) The adult birds make a really strange noise, and we thought they were cormorants for a while. Now we are not so sure. Our last glimpse of them did not look like a cormorant really.

The kitty was being cute.

On our walk today, we saw a whole row of these beautiful trees. The flowers smell so amazing. Too bad you can't capture scent in a picture :)

June 18, 2011: In Which a Little Reconstruction Occurs

Our day started out great. I made stuffed french toast wth berries for breakfast.
Then there was a rainbow!

I walked down the block just to get a good shot of this awesome rainbow!!

Our newest front porch decorations: Tibetan prayer flags and some orchids by the door.

OMG!!! There's that rainbow again!!!!

We sat outside and had a little fire.

I can't believe it!!!!! Now it's a double rainbow!!!!!!

Oh yeah, we also patched the old crumbling plaster wall. Looking good :)

June 17, 2011

For dinner tonight we had falafel with tahini sauce and orzo salad. Yummy!

June 16, 2011: Demolition Day 3

We were very unsure about what to do with the cabinet at the base of the tub. One thing was for certain, we both hated the laminate on the cabinet and decided that we needed to at least remove that part. Once the laminate was removed, we found more water damage....
..so we had to remove the whole cabinet. Rob should probably be wearing gloves for this project, but he did ok without.

While he was picking up the pieces of our cabinet, Rob discovered this under the tub. It's a Sun Sponge: a sponge filled with SPF 2 tanning oil. How hilarious is that!!

And finally the cabinet was gone. Now we have a section of floor to tile where it used to sit.

Rob like taking pictures of the sky recently. It is very pretty and blue.

These pretty star flowers are on our Purple Smoke tree.

And this is growing in our wildflower patch. I'm not sure yet what it is. We will have to wait and see.
