February 14, 2012: Happy Valentine's Day

Our little kitty started her insulin shots today. For the first two weeks, she gets two shots a day, then we will see how her blood sugar levels are. So far it's been pretty easy. The vet said she can eat her regular food instead of the diabetic food, so she is finally actually eating full meals. Yay! She didn't even seem to feel her first shot. Hopefully she will start gaining back the almost two pounds that she has lost.

February 5, 2012: Flowers and Peace

The first flowers of the spring: a yellow crocus.....
.....a tiny snowdrop that got a little trampled......
.....and some tiny purple violets.
Kia even got to spend some time in the sunshine today, hanging out with the Buddha.

February 4, 2012: Rob's Surprise Party!!

I surprised Rob with a birthday party. It was a ton of fun: great group of people, good food and drink, and some really goofy gifts.
When we ran out of bread, Heather pulled some from her butt, with a flourish.
Luke gave Rob some stretchy body parts that spent the night stuck to the kitchen ceiling and leaving small weird-shaped stains. Looks like we'll be repainting a little sooner than expected :)

February 2 & 3, 2012: Rob's Birthday Gifts

When Rob got to work today, this beautiful gift was waiting for him on his desk. All those cups are stapled together making it nearly impossible to move them to the sink and pour out the liquid. Luckily Rob has an army of 5th graders who helped him with the challenge.
Luckily he had this cool gift to come home to, although so far he can just oooh and aaah. Until his new SD card arrives, the camera is not functional :)

February 1, 2012: Happy Birthday Rob!!

It was a beautiful day, which is unusual for Rob's birthday. We were able to sit on the front porch with our morning coffee and text pictures of the sunshine to people in Wisconsin :)

I made Rob a really awesome birthday cake: Chocolate bundt cake with chocolate glaze. The recipe is really easy to make and is super delicious. It is almost fudgy inside, and the glaze is more like a thick, rich frosting. Yum!
We didn't have enough candles or room on the cake because Rob is so super old :)
He blew out all his candles, and we know that his wish came true, because he is married to me :P
Happy Birthday Rob!!
