May 12, 2012: Rob Injures Himself

Rob was opening a window and slammed his finger between the opening frame and the crossbar in the middle of the top frame.  He slammed it so hard that he cracked the window...

 and turned his fingernail purple.  Now he has a stylish finger splint to wear.

 We didn't even know this iris existed.  All of a sudden there it was.  It's so pretty.

 Our bearded irises are also blooming.

 This ant worked so hard to move this little piece of a chip to his home.  That blade of grass confused him for a while, but he finally got over it.

 The kitty loves this time of year, because she gets to sit on the porch.

May 10, 2012: Our Tomato Plants

We bought 8 tomato plants, lots of different varieties.  We haven't planted them yet.  The weather forecast still has some cold night temperatures coming our way.

 So, they live in the garden during the day and safe on the porch at night.

Goodnight tomatoes :)  I can't wait to eat the yummy tomatoes you will (hopefully) produce.

 Our asparagus is growing.  This is the second time that we have attempted to grow asparagus, and it looks as though it is going to work better this time.  Next year will be the big test.  Will it come back?

Also we have a mystery plant growing.  We don't remember planting any seeds, yet there are seedlings.  We think it may be the seeds from our Hallowe'en pumpkin sprouting.  I sure hope so.  I love growing pumpkins.

A to Z Reflection

During April, we completed the A to Z blog challenge and we had a lot of fun.  We had completed a similar challenge during February a few years ago and had a difficult time.  We found that this time it was much easier to make it through the whole alphabet.

One part of this challenge that I really enjoyed was visiting all the blogs that were signed up.  I didn't make it through every blog, but I visited a lot.  I loved meeting new people, gaining new followers, and finding blogs that I enjoy and want to follow.  We gained almost twenty new followers during this challenge.  Welcome to you all.  I hope you enjoy following our adventures :)

I am already looking forward to next year's challenge.

May 5, 2012: Super Moon Saturday

This morning we went to the farmer's market.  We bought a fig tree and some cut flowers.

 Later I went back to the market to see if they had squash plants, and there was a marimba band playing.

 We went to the park to play Frisbee, and Rob took some pictures of the trees silhouetted against the sky.

 When it got dark, we went outside to see the super moon.

 We were a little unimpressed.

 It just wasn't very super.

 So we added some green laser action.

 That is pretty super :)

While we were outside, we saw a firetruck, ambulance and police cars.  We assumed it was a 911 call, a heart attack or something.  Then we heard from a neighbor:  they found an explosive!  Apparently it was a WWII bomb that was found in the bushes.  The police took it to a local park, buried, and detonated it.  Crazy!

I am currently reading this book.  I keep going back and forth on whether I like it or not.  Right now, I like it.  We'll see how I feel by the end.  We may just have to check out the HBO show.
